About Emoji repository
Emoji Repo is a free reference and tool collection for finding emoji, understanding their uses, copying characters and working with available artwork.
Find the right emoji and format
Browse categories, search names and meanings, compare platform designs, or use image and photo tools in your browser. The service supports English and Simplified Chinese, with stable emoji URLs across languages.
Where the information comes from
Names and search terms draw on Unicode CLDR, together with the project’s existing emoji catalog. Meaning descriptions and examples are edited reference content. Chinese translations are reviewed against their source; corrections can still be needed as usage and platform designs evolve.
Meaning depends on the conversation
A dictionary label is only a starting point. Tone, age group, platform and the surrounding message all affect how an emoji is read. Our explanations are examples to help you decide, rather than universal rules about other people’s intentions.
Characters and artwork have different permissions
Copying sends a Unicode character; its appearance is determined by the receiving device. Downloaded artwork has its own source and licensing terms. We identify available design sources and provide a Licensing page so that you can check the applicable conditions.
Tools that work in your browser
Favorites and recent copies are saved locally. The photo editor processes your selected photo in the browser, and you choose when to download the result. Optional external services and contact-message handling are described in our Privacy Policy.
An independent project
Emoji Repo is not an official Unicode or platform-vendor website. References to Apple, Google, Microsoft and other platforms identify compatibility or artwork sources, not endorsement. We welcome reports about incorrect meanings, translations, missing assets and accessibility problems.
